Sudan has more than 70 ethnic groups, and each group has its own language. The official language is Arabic, which is spoken by the majority of the population, especially in the northern region.
Other widely spoken languages include:
Nubian: A group of closely related languages spoken in northern Sudan.
Dinka: Spoken by the Dinka people in the southern region of Sudan.
Bari: Spoken in the Equatoria region of south Sudan.
English: Due to Sudan's history of colonization, English is widely spoken and understood, especially in urban areas.
Zande: Spoken in the western part of South Sudan.
Some ethnic groups also use a form of Arabic known as Sudanese Arabic. The languages of Sudan have been heavily influenced by Islam and Arabic culture, with many Arabic loanwords and phrases present in local languages.
